Don’t Touch that Red Tag!

What is a “red tag repair”?  In the world of construction and maintenance it means that the equipment in question is unsafe.  It is also known as a product warning tag. It may be placed on a gas appliance by a licensed technician to indicate that it is no longer safe to operate and either needs to be repaired or replaced.

A red tag means do not touch unless you are trained in these type of repairs.  Warning tags are issued on any appliance or perhaps a piping system that uses natural gas.  This should get your attention…if carbon monoxide is leaking from a cracked heat exchanger, there is a chance of it mixing with the air.

Red tags are no joking matter.  This is NOT a sale at K-Mart!  It is important to have a trained technician repair the problem so that the tag may be removed.  Eric Montoya of E M Plumbing is Albuquerque’s red tag specialist.  Make sure that you call him in just such an emergency.  His phone number is (505) 980-9334.
